THE PROJECT
KGK Scaffolding was entrusted with delivering a comprehensive scaffolding, edge-protection and temporary-access package at St Anthony’s Catholic Primary School in Slough, Berkshire.
The works were carefully programmed around the school calendar, with the principal scaffold installation undertaken during a closure period to reduce disruption and allow the access package to be established safely ahead of the wider construction works.
KGK installed extensive double edge protection around exposed roof areas, together with specialist scaffold access towers positioned to provide safe and practical access to key working locations.
The package also incorporated both a GEDA 200 Z and GEDA 250 C material hoist, alongside rope-and-wheel lifting arrangements for smaller tools and materials. KGK was responsible for the erection and dismantling of the hoists as part of the wider temporary-access strategy.
Careful consideration was given to access control, segregation and the school’s circulation areas, ensuring the completed temporary works were suitable for the site and could remain safely managed once the school returned to normal use.
The project demonstrates KGK’s ability to deliver substantial access and lifting packages within sensitive education environments, where programming, site control and safe integration with the existing premises are critical.

03 / REQUIREMENTS & CHALLENGES
The project required a carefully coordinated access strategy across a school building with extensive exposed roof areas and multiple lifting and access requirements.
Large sections of the roof required continuous double edge protection, while specialist scaffold towers were installed to provide safe access to specific working areas.
The inclusion of both GEDA 200 Z and GEDA 250 C material hoists introduced further logistical requirements, with hoist positions, loading areas and lifting operations needing to be coordinated with the wider scaffold layout.
The main installation was programmed during the school closure period, giving KGK a defined window in which to establish the access system safely and efficiently before the site returned to normal operation.
The challenge was therefore not simply the quantity of scaffold involved, but delivering a coordinated edge-protection, access and lifting package within a time-sensitive education environment, while ensuring the completed installation could be safely controlled and segregated thereafter.
04 / PROJECT OUTCOME
KGK successfully delivered a fully coordinated scaffolding, edge-protection and material-handling package at St Anthony’s Catholic Primary School, providing safe access to the required roof areas while maintaining controlled movement throughout the wider site.
The combination of extensive double edge protection, specialist access towers, two GEDA material hoists and dedicated lifting arrangements provided a safe and practical access solution tailored specifically to the demands of the project.
Throughout the programme, access and segregation measures ensured the construction works could progress while maintaining the high standards of safety and control required within an operational education environment.
