KGK Scaffolding was entrusted with delivering a highly technical scaffolding and access package at the Maylands Building, requiring a combination of conventional access scaffolding and specialist designed structures to overcome a challenging building configuration.

The building’s multiple roof levels, restricted working areas and varying structural conditions created a number of significant access challenges, with several locations where traditional ground-supported scaffolding was not practical or achievable.

To overcome these constraints, KGK installed a combination of full-height independent scaffolding, specialist hung scaffold structures, extensive double roof-edge protection and dedicated access towers. Project-specific temporary-works designs were developed for the more complex areas, allowing the scaffold to be safely integrated with the existing building while providing reliable access across otherwise difficult-to-reach elevations.

The package also incorporated strengthened scaffold sections, material hoists and carefully coordinated lifting arrangements, with each element required to operate as part of one complete access system. The scaffold had to be continually adapted around the building’s differing levels, restricted spaces and existing structures while maintaining safe and practical working areas throughout.

The Maylands Building project represents a highly engineered scaffolding solution extending well beyond a conventional commercial scaffold, demonstrating KGK’s ability to combine specialist design, detailed planning and precise installation to deliver safe access across technically demanding environments.
